Spring fever in the snow: in search of firn at Bergwiesenglück //Lifestylehotels™

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the first flowers are poking their heads out of the ground – spring will soon be here and with it the end of the ski season. Or is it? Not at all! Have you ever heard of spring skiing? Now is the perfect time for a second helping of alpine fun. Not least thanks to the firn. The ideal starting point for your search? The Bergwiesenglück, located in the middle of a Tyrolean ski paradise with something for everyone.

A quartet of slopes for spring skiing

While elsewhere you have to limit yourself to a handful of slopes, the Bergwiesenglück is blessed with four ski areas. They can all be reached quickly with the hotel’s own shuttle. And if you prefer to be professionally accompanied on the slopes, simply book ski guide Patty .

Let’s go

The See and Kappl ski areas are in the immediate vicinity and are ideal for families with their 42 kilometers of slopes, many wide runs and easy terrain. With 239 kilometers of slopes, Ischgl and Samnaun are among the largest and most diverse ski areas in Austria. The après-ski scene here is world-famous, as are the stars who perform at the concerts at the beginning and end of the season. At this year’s Top of the Mountain Closing Concert in April, it will be the Black Eyed Peas.

Winding down after spring skiing

Those who prefer to take it easy can enjoy the rest of the day in the hotel’s own wellness area. The outdoor infinity pool on the roof can also be used on cold spring days as it is heated all year round. For an extra dose of wellness, you can book a SPA chalet – with its own sauna and hot tub on the terrace. You can then round off the day with culinary delights in Hermann’s Kitchen.

And the famous firn?

Spring is a wonderful time for a skiing vacation: whizzing down the slopes in a Norwegian sweater without a jacket, making the last turns of the day in the light, soaking up the sun in a deck chair at the hut and watching nature awaken from hibernation. And then there’s the firn: that butter-soft snow with a crunchy surface that makes you feel like you’re floating on clouds. Where is it hiding? Best to hit the slopes early! Happiness found!
