INSPIRATION FROM AROUND THE WORLD FOR AN AESTHETIC AND MEANINGFUL LIFESTYLE

Louis Vuitton: 130 Years of the Monogram

Louis Vuitton celebrates a living symbol of luxury, craftsmanship, and cultural legacy

Created in 1896, the Monogram of Louis Vuitton has become far more than a decorative motif. It is a visual language of heritage, innovation, and timeless excellence. To mark its 130th anniversary, the House dedicates an entire year to this iconic emblem—through special collections, new interpretations, and a tribute to its most legendary bags.

The birth of an emblem – between art and identity

Designed by Georges Vuitton as a tribute to his father Louis, the Monogram was revolutionary from the outset. Its interlaced LV initials and floral motifs, inspired by Neo-Gothic ornamentation and Japonism, served both as artistic expression and protection against counterfeiting.

What began as a patented pattern soon evolved into a universal code—a philosophy of excellence, modernity, and transmission.

Creative visions & cultural dialogues

Across generations, the Monogram has been reimagined by visionary creative directors such as Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquière, Virgil Abloh and Pharrell Williams.

Equally influential were artistic collaborations with Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama and Richard Prince, pushing the Monogram into new cultural realms.

Celebrating the icons

January 2026 opens with a tribute to Louis Vuitton most iconic Monogram bags: Speedy, Keepall, Noé, Alma, and Neverfull—each a symbol of travel, creativity, and modern elegance.
