Light in sacral buildings: iGuzzini illuminates church with “Palco” lights

Palco - Sakrales Licht von iGuzzini in St. Giles Kirche

iGuzzini’s Palco floodlights illuminate the medieval church of St. Giles, at the heart of the modern development of Barbican in London.

Curated by Light Perceptions, the lighting design of the ancient church that survived the bombing of the German air force on England between 1940 and 1941, provides a modern and flexible system, in harmony with the medieval origins of the building and with the restorations and additions of the post-war period.

The use of modern lighting technology by iGuzzini allows to obtain and modulate appropriate functional and aesthetic lighting throughout the church, supporting the wide spectrum of liturgical and musical functions.

iGuzzini’s Palco luminaires create uniform general and accent lighting, in prominent positions such as on the altar and at the baptismal font, with luminaires of different sizes, proportionate to the areas in which they are installed.

Thanks to miniature stage projectors, the light effect emphasizes the architecture, creating a beautiful setting for recitals. Organs are also highlighted so they can be a strong visual feature during musical events.

All luminaires guarantee maximum flexibility and reliability, as well as ease of operation, through the DALI system that allows to control the general lighting area by area to adapt it to the different uses of the spaces.
