An evening where fashion made history – the 2025 Met Gala celebrated Black elegance, cultural identity, and the finest in bespoke craftsmanship.

Tailored for You: The Theme That Set the Tone

This year’s Met Gala took inspiration from the spring exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Opening to the public on May 10, 2025, the exhibition explores over 300 years of Black fashion history – from the refined elegance of Black Dandyism to political dressing and modern-day streetwear.

The aim? To present fashion not just as attire, but as a medium of self-expression, empowerment, and resistance.

Louis Vuitton: Sponsor, Designer, Style Leader

Louis Vuitton played a pivotal role this year – not only as the exhibition’s sponsor, but as the driving creative force behind many of the night’s most talked-about looks. Pharrell Williams, the brand’s Men’s Creative Director, served as a co-chair of the Gala and set the tone with a striking personal ensemble.

His own outfit was a showstopper:
A double-breasted evening jacket made from 15,000 hand-woven white pearls, creating a pinstripe illusion, paired with flared black wool trousers, a silk tie, and the standout accessory – the burgundy crocodile Speedy P9. The look was a tribute to both luxury craftsmanship and the spirit of the modern-day dandy.

Tailored Icons: The Louis Vuitton Guest Looks

Zendaya: Feminine Dandyism

The actress stunned in an all-white tailored look: a single-breasted tuxedo with flared silk trousers and a wide-brimmed felt hat – a nod to 1940s Zoot Suits, reimagined in a feminine silhouette. Refined, yet rebellious.

Future: Streetwear Meets Savile Row

Future stepped out in a bouclé wool tracksuit in Prince-of-Wales check, adorned with red pearls and hand-embroidered crystals. The juxtaposition of tailoring and street culture made for one of the evening’s boldest statements.

Lisa: Couture Meets Contemporary Art

K-pop star Lisa wore a lace blazer over a corseted bodysuit, featuring a print by artist Henry Taylor overlaid with the Louis Vuitton Monogram, all hand-embellished with crystals. A true dialogue between fashion and fine art.

Callum Turner: Jazz-Era Elegance

Turner donned a double-breasted wool suit and pearl-accented accessories, evoking the spirit of 1930s Dandyism, reinterpreted by the Louis Vuitton ateliers for the 21st century.

The Message of the Met Gala 2025

This year’s Met Gala was not merely a red-carpet spectacle. It was a celebration of Black style history, artisanal mastery, and the powerful role of fashion as a cultural force. With tailored looks that were both classic and subversive, Pharrell Williams ushered in a new era of menswear – one where suits tell stories.
