From June 17 to 22, 2025, Switzerland’s only art fair dedicated exclusively to photography returns to Volkshaus Basel for its 10th anniversary edition. With 39 galleries from 15 countries, a curated “Beyond Photography” section, and a host of special programs, photo basel 2025 promises to be a highlight for professionals and enthusiasts alike.
A Decade of photo basel photo basel is Switzerland’s first and only photography-dedicated art fair. Held alongside Art Basel at the charming Volkshaus Basel, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, it has become a must-visit event. The 2025 edition welcomes 39 galleries from 15 countries, showcasing over 450 photographic works by more than 150 artists.

Beyond Photography This section explores the boundaries of photography, showcasing hybrid techniques that move beyond the traditional frame. Featured artists include:
- Sophie Zénon (Galerie XII), blending botany and war memory through photograms
- Silvio Maraini (Galerie Monika Wertheimer), capturing bat sonograms with ultrasonic microphones
- Diego Brambilla (blackprint), questioning nature and art through sculptural photo-objects
novum A platform for previously unseen or newly created works debuting at photo basel. Artists include:
- Chris Tille, exploring light with a spectrometer in art-historic locations
- Anna Lehmann-Brauns (Galerie 94), turning her lens to the human body in her new “Burlesque” series
