Somewhere between champagne, design and joy, a new collection emerges. “Chasing the Sun” by Veuve Clicquot and Yinka Ilori is a celebration of optimism, connection and the art of embracing shared moments.

Some brands transcend the products they create. Veuve Clicquot is one of them. For more than 250 years, the Maison has represented not only craftsmanship and innovation but also a particular outlook on life. A vision shaped by Madame Clicquot and symbolised by the house’s iconic yellow colour — a shade associated with sunlight and optimism since it first appeared on the labels in 1877.
With “Chasing the Sun”, Veuve Clicquot adds a new creative chapter to this story. Created in collaboration with British-Nigerian artist and designer Yinka Ilori, the collection brings together design, emotion and a joyful approach to living.
The Architect of Joy
Yinka Ilori is often described as the “Architect of Joy”. Working across art, architecture, interiors and public spaces, he uses colour, storytelling and cultural references to create connections between people.

For Veuve Clicquot, Ilori developed a vibrant visual universe inspired by the symbolism of the sun. Protective hands, reimagined stars and nature-inspired motifs celebrate warmth, human connection and the small gestures that bring people together.
At the heart of the project lies a simple idea: joy grows when it is shared.
Design for Shared Experiences
The limited-edition collection reinterprets classic champagne rituals through a contemporary design lens.
The Sun Holder transforms the traditional champagne cooler into a portable design object. Inspired by the shape of a calabash, it combines symbolism with functionality. Produced primarily from recycled materials using innovative 3D-knitting technology, it keeps a bottle chilled for up to 90 minutes.

Complementing it are the Sun Totems, sculptural champagne coolers designed for Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label and Rosé. Combining functionality with strong visual presence, they demonstrate how everyday objects can become design statements.
Even the iconic Clicquot Arrow has been reimagined. Traditionally displaying the distance between a chosen destination and the historic cellars in Reims, the personalised gift box now appears in three colourful designs inspired by themes of identity, light and perspective.
More Than a Collection
What makes “Chasing the Sun” compelling is not simply the objects themselves, but the philosophy behind them.

Luxury today is increasingly defined by experiences rather than possessions. The collection reflects this shift, celebrating the value of shared moments — whether around a table with friends, during an outdoor aperitif or through spontaneous summer encounters.
In this sense, Veuve Clicquot’s vision extends far beyond champagne. It becomes a reflection on hospitality, connection and the simple pleasure of spending meaningful time together.
An Ode to Optimism
“Chasing the Sun” debuted during Milan Design Week through an immersive installation that invited visitors into Yinka Ilori’s colourful world.

Perhaps that is the true strength of this collaboration. It reminds us that design has the power to shape more than objects and spaces. It can influence emotions, encourage connection and inspire optimism. And sometimes, the sun we are chasing is simply a moment shared with others.
