Between Reality and Imagination: Kilian Vos’ International Debut with Moooi in Milan

How a young designer is redefining the boundaries between the digital and the physical

With a compelling fusion of CGI, product design, and spatial storytelling, Amsterdam-based designer Kilian Vos steps onto the international stage. During Milan Design Week 2026, she presents her first collaboration with the renowned design label Moooi—opening up a new dimension of experience between reality and virtuality.

The Surreal Made Tangible

Kilian Vos represents a new generation of designers who no longer distinguish between digital and physical realms—but deliberately merge them. With a background in CGI, she creates objects and environments that feel both familiar and otherworldly. Her work exists in a tension between materiality and illusion: the digital becomes tactile, while the physical turns surreal.

Her designs go beyond functionality—they are perceptual experiments. Sculptural furniture, imagined environments, and hybrid objects invite us to question our understanding of reality. Vos’ work is not just about aesthetics, but about redefining the relationship between people, objects, and space.

Mailand als Bühne für eine neue Design-Dimension

At Milan Design Week 2026, Vos celebrates her international debut—with a powerful partner: Moooi. Her carpet designs, originally proposed to Moooi Carpets, impressed the brand to such an extent that they are now part of the official collection. These pieces will be the only new carpet launches by Moooi presented in Milan this year.

The works will be showcased at Superstudio Più and the Moooi Store in central Milan—two locations known for immersive design experiences that perfectly complement Vos’ visionary approach.

A Dialogue Between Vision and Craft

What defines Vos’ practice is the seamless interplay between digital creation and physical realization. Her designs originate in virtual environments but are translated into tangible objects—without losing their experimental essence.

This dialogue opens up new possibilities:

  • Forms that seem to defy physical limitations
  • Materials that visually transform
  • Spaces that oscillate between simulation and reality

Vos sees this as the future of design: a discipline that doesn’t just create objects, but creates experiences.

Moooi: 25 Years of Visionary Design

Collaborating with Moooi is more than a milestone—it is a statement. Founded in 2001, the Dutch design brand has long stood for experimental, emotional, and boundary-pushing design.

At Milan Design Week 2026, Moooi celebrates its 25th anniversary with a striking silver exhibition—reflecting on its roots while boldly moving forward. The immersive presentation aligns seamlessly with Vos’ vision:

Design as experience. Design as emotion. Design as evolution.

A Glimpse into the Future of Design

Kilian Vos offers a compelling vision of where design is heading: away from rigid categories and toward fluid transitions. Her work represents a new era in which digital technologies are not just tools, but creative realms in their own right.

The boundary between real and virtual? Increasingly irrelevant.

And that is precisely where the power of her work lies: making the invisible visible—and the unimaginable tangible.
