INSPIRATION FROM AROUND THE WORLD FOR AN AESTHETIC AND MEANINGFUL LIFESTYLE

Scenic Vacation Set, Gradonna****s Mountain Resort // Lifestylehotels

Some places feel as if they were dreamed up by a film director. They are magical, quietly beautiful, almost unreal—like something straight out of a movie. The Gradonna ****s Mountain Resort in East Tyrol is one such place. It’s no surprise that both national and international film industries love to use this refuge as a backdrop. Ready to take the starring role on your holiday?

On Location

Like a modern mountain village, it nestles boldly yet respectfully against the Großglockner. Depending on the weather and time of day, the atmosphere ranges from radiantly cheerful to dramatically snow-covered or mystically shrouded in fog, but certainly always unique. This impressive location in the Hohen Tauern at 1,500 meters above sea level, combined with the striking architecture of the ensemble of glass and wood, attracts not only guests but also filmmakers from around the world.

One Perfect Chalet

As part of the enchanted forest in the second season of the Amazon Prime series Nine Perfect Strangers, one of the Gradonna chalets serves as a location for Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, providing the mystical retreat for her character, the enigmatic course leader Masha Dmitrichenko. And even though the Hollywood star was represented on site by a double, the resort appears in nearly every episode.

A Name to Remember

The Gradonna has also made a name for itself as a filming location for the Austrian-German cinema comedy Der Spitzname, which showcases both the Großglockner Resort Kals-Matrei ski area and the Gradonna itself. As the setting for a family holiday, the film brought together renowned actors such as Iris Berben, Christoph Maria Herbst, and Florian David Fitz in the third installment of the film trilogy. The resort has also served as a set for TV series like Die Bergretter and Landkrimi.

FFor international film productions, sustainable conditions and professional infrastructure are just as important as the impressive backdrop. As the first hotel in East Tyrol to receive ISO 14001 certification, we offer film crews not only a spectacular location but also reliable and responsible production conditions.

Martha Schultz, co-owner of the resort.

Quiet please, we’re going on vacation!

And for guests? Here’s a chance to spend your holiday on a real film set. So get ready for action, because it’s time for a movie-worthy vacation at this surprisingly authentic mountain resort.
