Fairmont Le Montreux Palace: Voglauer gives the grand hotel on Lake Geneva a new lease of life.
Between swan wings and trumpet sounds
The historic Fairmont Le Montreux Palace has stood on the shores of Lake Geneva since 1906, and thanks to Voglauer, it now shines even brighter than before. The general contractor has not only refurbished the grand hotel, but also elegantly elevated it to new heights. What do a swan and a trumpet have to do with it? Read on to find out.
Melodies of consistency
Just as Miles Davis’ trumpet carries the gentle melody in his Montreux version of Time After Time, the renovated Grand Hotel also tells a story of lastigness and renewal. The jazz standard in his interpretation stands for loyalty and timeless elegance – qualities that are reflected in the new splendour of the hotel. What remains is the soul. What changes is the form.
Gentle transformation of the familiar
With this in mind, Voglauer undertook the renovation of 54 rooms. Replacing the furniture would have been one option. Instead, the more prudent option was chosen, namely the sustainable refurbishment of the existing furniture. Cupboards and bedside tables were given new paintwork and drawer fronts, while coffee tables and desks were fitted with new table tops.
Where waves meet mother-of-pearl
Inspired by the view of Lake Geneva and the Alps, the whole thing is presented in an elegant composition of white and blue tones. Wave patterns in the carpet, the image motif of the lake above the beds and a few storks flying across the bathroom wallpaper harmoniously reflect the water theme. The same applies to the enhancement of the original furniture with mother-of-pearl finishes and swan- and shell-shaped handles for minibar cabinets and cupboards.
All renovation work was carried out conscientiously, carefully and very professionally.

Despite the tight schedule, everything went smoothly without ever disrupting daily business with guests. Just in time for the jazz festival, a new era was ushered in – accompanied by the gentle sound of trumpets that has always echoed across Lake Geneva. And like a swan gliding majestically across the water, the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace now presents itself in all its splendour.
