For Spring/Summer 2027, Marina Hoermanseder transforms fashion into a vision of curiosity, transformation and fearless imagination, where craftsmanship meets a future yet to be discovered.
Fashion has always reflected the way we imagine ourselves and the worlds we aspire to inhabit. With Outer Space, Marina Hoermanseder’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, the Austrian designer ventures beyond familiar territory, creating a universe where innovation, identity and transformation become inseparable.
Rather than depicting space as a distant destination, Hoermanseder uses it as a metaphor for possibility. Her protagonists are women who leave established boundaries behind to explore entirely new realities, carrying strength and vulnerability with equal confidence.
Armour for a New Era
The collection balances protection with elegance. Sculptural silhouettes, chrome-like finishes, icy blue leather and armour-inspired constructions create garments that appear almost extraterrestrial while remaining deeply connected to the human body.
This dialogue between structure and emotion has always defined Hoermanseder’s work. Corsetry, orthopaedic references and engineered forms are once again reinterpreted, turning clothing into both armour and a catalyst for transformation.
Craftsmanship Shapes the Future
Despite its futuristic aesthetic, Outer Space remains firmly rooted in artisanal craftsmanship. One of the collection’s defining elements is the return of Hoermanseder’s signature Twisted Buckle technique.
Instead of conventional seams, twisted buckles connect layered leather constructions, creating sculptural depth and architectural precision. The result is a collection where technical innovation emerges directly from meticulous handcraft.
Natural leather—one of the designer’s earliest signature materials—also returns, establishing a compelling dialogue between her creative origins and an increasingly forward-looking vision.
Fashion as Cultural Commentary
Beyond aesthetics, the collection also reflects on contemporary ideas surrounding the body and identity.
The Hyper Physicality Vase exaggerates anatomical ideals into sculptural forms, questioning notions of perfection while addressing themes of toxic masculinity. Meanwhile, Hoermanseder introduces her signature strap construction into menswear for the first time through Strap Pants and Strap Shorts, expanding the visual language that has long defined her brand.
A Lunar Landscape
Earthy neutrals are contrasted by vivid orange, while blue and green Swarovski crystals evoke the depth of distant galaxies. Throughout the collection, the Lunar Landscape technique recreates the textures of the moon’s surface, giving many garments the appearance of archaeological discoveries from another civilisation.
The collection culminates in the striking Alien Vase, featuring orthopaedic-inspired head and arm structures. The piece pays tribute to Hoermanseder’s time at Alexander McQueen and the iconic Plato’s Atlantis collection, while simultaneously looking toward a future that remains beyond today’s imagination..
