INSPIRATION FROM AROUND THE WORLD FOR AN AESTHETIC AND MEANINGFUL LIFESTYLE

Mexico as a Future Lab for Hospitality

The Mexican Hospitality Summit 2026 in Mérida reveals why Latin America is becoming one of the most exciting regions for new hotel concepts, wellness tourism and international hospitality investment.

Mexico is increasingly moving into the spotlight of the global hospitality industry. Not only as a destination rich in culture, nature and joie de vivre, but as a place where new hotel concepts, wellness experiences and sustainable tourism models are taking shape.

A clear sign of this momentum was the Mexican Hospitality Summit 2026, held on May 27 and 28, 2026, at Fiesta Americana Mérida. More than 400 professionals from tourism, hotels and hospitality gathered in the capital of Yucatán, including hotel owners, CEOs, general managers, investors, operators, architects, developers, consultants, travel advisors and representatives of international brands.

Founded by Rocco Bova, international hospitality leader, consultant and mentor, together with Co-Founder Adolfo Tuñón, the Summit recorded more than 100 percent growth in attendance compared to its previous edition. It has now established itself as one of Mexico’s leading platforms for networking, knowledge sharing and business development within the hospitality sector.

An Industry in Transformation

Over the course of two days, Mérida became a stage for the changing face of hospitality. Hotels are no longer merely places to stay. They are becoming spaces for culture, wellbeing, connection, transformation and new ways of living.

More than 50 speakers and panelists discussed topics such as luxury travel, wellness, artificial intelligence, sustainability, branding, technology, investment and emerging hospitality developments. Among the participating companies and organizations were Expedia Group, STR, Accor, Belmond, Forbes Travel Guide, Virtuoso, Adyen, Kaizen, Matrix and Exclusive Tents.

The Summit therefore reflected some of the key questions shaping the international travel industry today: How can luxury be redefined? What role does technology play in a deeply human industry? And how can hotels become places that offer not only comfort, but genuine resonance?

Mexico’s Next Major Hospitality Projects

One of the most anticipated sessions was the panel “The Future Checks In Here: Mexico’s Next Major Hospitality Projects.” Representatives of Paradero Hotels, Atal Resort, Hamaak Hotels, Belmond Hotels, Accor, Leisure Partners and GND Properties shared insights into the projects, investments and developments that are set to shape Mexico’s tourism future.

What became clear is that Mexico is increasingly seen as a strategic market for high-quality, innovative and internationally relevant hospitality concepts. Between boutique hotels, luxury resorts, regenerative approaches and wellness-oriented destinations, a new understanding of travel is emerging.

It is no longer only about bringing guests to a beautiful place. It is about creating spaces where people feel connected — to the environment, to a culture, to others and ultimately to themselves.

Mérida as a New Meeting Point

The choice of Mérida as host city was anything but accidental. The city is increasingly positioning itself as a strategic hub for tourism, hospitality and meetings in Mexico. Historic architecture, cultural depth, a growing creative scene and proximity to extraordinary natural and cultural landscapes make Mérida an ideal place to reflect on the future of travel.

The accompanying exhibition area also showed how broadly hospitality is now being understood. More than 25 national and international companies presented solutions and services from the fields of technology, hotel equipment, financial services, innovation and tourism development. Participants included Huawei, American Express, Cold Box, Matrix, Aven, Lighthouse and Triptease.

From Mexico to Latin America

The most significant announcement of the Summit, however, was its next phase of development. Beginning in 2027, the event will officially become the Latin American Hospitality Summit, expanding its focus from Mexico to the entire region.

At the same time, organizers announced the launch of the Latin American Wellness Tourism Summit, a specialized platform dedicated to wellness, health tourism, transformative experiences and wellness hospitality. This sector is one of the fastest-growing segments in global travel.

The next edition of the Latin American Hospitality Summit will take place from May 4 to 6, 2027, while the inaugural Latin American Wellness Tourism Summit is scheduled for September 28 and 29, 2027. Both events will again be held at Fiesta Americana Mérida.

The Future of Hospitality

For Rocco Bova and Adolfo Tuñón, the growth of the second edition confirms the industry’s need for meaningful spaces where leaders can connect, collaborate and innovate. Their aim is to create platforms that foster collaboration, sustainable growth and a Latin American vision of hospitality.

This is where the broader significance of the Summit lies. It shows that Latin America is not only becoming more important as a travel destination, but also as an active creator of a new hospitality culture.

Mexico stands as a powerful example of a region where hospitality, joy of life, nature, wellness, design and investment are coming together in new ways.

Perhaps the future of hospitality will not be written where many have long expected it.

But in places where hospitality is still understood as a true art.
