When a meeting becomes a moment of design: Two outdoor personalities shaped by one shared idea
Sometimes all it takes is a spark – a single encounter – to create something truly special. That spark was struck in 2023, when designer Francesca Lanzavecchia was invited by Luisa Battaglia, Art Director and Co-Owner of S-CAB, to create her first outdoor piece. The result was Malvasia – a chair that combines lightness and technical precision with poetic restraint.
Just one year later came its evolution: Malvasia Riviera – a lounge chair with a warm character and generous comfort.
Malvasia: The Poetry of Metal and Light
With Malvasia, Francesca Lanzavecchia introduced her first creation for S-CAB in 2024 – a design defined by subtle elegance and architectural clarity.
The seat and backrest are made from a single perforated metal sheet, bent and precisely welded to the slender tubular frame in an almost invisible way. The result is a chair that plays with light and shadow – like a tree casting dappled sunlight through its leaves.

With its geometric purity, double-curved legs and optional seat cushions, Malvasia feels both graphic and poetic – ideal for urban patios, stylish hotel terraces or relaxed outdoor cafés.

Malvasia Riviera, unveiled at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025, is Malvasia’s more sensual sibling.
