With Brezza Relax Indoor, S-CAB brings a design by Alessandro Stabile from the outdoors into the interior. In the process, a lounge chair evolves into a modular system that reflects just how naturally the boundaries between inside and outside are beginning to disappear.
There was a time when it was fairly easy to tell where a piece of furniture belonged. The substantial upholstered armchair went into the living room, the robust seating ensemble onto the terrace. Today, that distinction is becoming increasingly irrelevant. Living spaces open up to the outdoors, terraces turn into open-air living rooms – and furniture begins to move between these worlds.
Brezza Relax Indoor by S-CAB is a beautiful example of this new freedom.
Designed by Alessandro Stabile, the collection was originally created for outdoor spaces. Now it is moving inside – without leaving its relaxed character behind.
From Outdoor Chair to Interior System
The basic idea deliberately remains unchanged: clean lines, generous proportions and large, soft cushions that seem to invite lounging rather than formal sitting.
For the indoor edition, however, Brezza Relax has been developed further. Recyclable fabrics give the upholstery tactile and visual qualities tailored to residential interiors. S-CAB has transformed the original lounge chair into a piece of furniture that retains its outdoor DNA while feeling entirely at home inside.
Behind it lies a broader idea: furniture no longer has to be designed exclusively for one specific environment. Instead, it can become an adaptable system, changing its character through materials, finishes, upholstery and configuration.
A Sofa Without Rigid Rules
This philosophy becomes particularly apparent in the expansion of the collection. Brezza Relax Indoor is not simply an outdoor chair now offered with interior-friendly upholstery. The concept has grown into a modular system.
A new armrest element makes it possible to configure sofas with different numbers of seats. There is also a pouf, which can be incorporated into corner arrangements or used independently as a bench, additional seat or footrest.
A small integrated table adds a practical surface without compromising the lightness of the composition.
Brezza Relax can therefore be rearranged according to the space in which it finds itself. Rather than prescribing how it should be used, the furniture adapts to the way people want to use it.
Comfort Becomes More Informal
It reflects a development increasingly visible in contemporary interior design. Upholstered furniture is becoming more generous, softer and less formal. Rather than creating the perfect static seating arrangement, the focus is shifting towards comfort, flexibility and spaces that can accommodate different uses.
The living room is no longer just a living room. Hotel lobbies become places to spend time and work, offices take on the atmosphere of lounges, and hospitality interiors increasingly borrow from residential design.
Brezza Relax Indoor moves naturally between all these worlds.
At just 70 centimetres high, the lounge chair module maintains an intentionally low, relaxed profile. Its voluminous cushions contrast with the reduced structure – a combination that gives the design its visual lightness.
Furniture on the Move
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Brezza Relax Indoor is precisely where it comes from. Usually, furniture created for interiors is adapted so that it can survive outdoors. Here, the journey goes in the opposite direction.
An outdoor piece moves into the house.
And brings some of the informality of outdoor living with it.
Brezza Relax Indoor can therefore find its place in a private living room just as naturally as in hotel lobbies, lounges, coworking spaces or offices. Not because these spaces have become identical, but because we no longer separate them as rigidly as we once did.
Perhaps this is where the contemporary quality of the design lies: Brezza Relax Indoor does not dictate how a space should be used. Instead, it gives the space – and the people within it – the freedom to decide for themselves.
