Catnapp – Down in the Basement

Capturing the jaw-dropping urge of her live shows as well as further refining her characteristic blend of rap and heavyweight electronic beats, Catnapp also challenged herself with exploring more complex emotions and subjects for this album.

“Down In The Basement” deals with artistic growth and staying true to your roots. You can take the artist out of the underground, but you can not take the underground out of the artist. As she is playing big stages more often now than gritty basement clubs, Catnapp tackles the beautiful contradictions of going your own way.

give it all u got
why u stopping now
how will it arrive
fear’s gotta die

give it all u got
why u stopping now
how will it arrive
fear’s gotta die

I gotta keep all my shit together
I ain’t stopping now
keep all the light inside on
keep the light on
do you think you know the way I feel?
do you think you know the way I feel?

trapped inside this hollow path
what is it going to last
walls are closing in i shut my eyes
will it ever pass

fever like a thousand knives
feel like i am being left to cry
being left to die
what is it, what is it going to last?

trapped inside this hollow path
what is it going to last
walls are closing in i shut my eyes
will it ever pass

fever like a thousand knives
feel like i am being left to cry
being left to die
what is it, what is it going to last?

i am always down in the basement
i am always down in the basement

i am always down in the basement
i’m down in the
i am always down in the basement
i’m down in the

look at her she’s falling down again
look at her she’s cracking up again
well she’s got a six pack on her brain and fifty thousand bruises on her knees
bitch please
this like eating pie for me
this like taking a bath and chill for me

i gotta breathe i must be wise
but i will add a little spice
cuz when its starting to feel good for me,
you keep on looking at me with those eyes

i take a nap while i recover
i cried my tears i took my cover
my scars are pretty they don’t bother
i think its time to make another

i am always down in the basement
i am always down in the basement
i am always down in the basement
i am always down in the basement

i am always down in the basement
i’m down in the
i am always down in the basement
i’m down in the

Catnapp, bourgeois Amparo Battaglia, is an Argentine producer and singer who has been making music under this pseudonym since 2010. She combines elements from R&B, rap, breakbeat, pop and drum & bass.

For the music she moved from Argentina to Berlin. Because of the economic situation in Argentina, she says, investments are made there primarily in artists who also promise financial success. Experimental artists like Catnapp, who also sings in English instead of the national language, therefore find it harder to grow and develop.
