How a Clubwear Label Became an International Avant-Garde Powerhouse
MISBHV (pronounced “misbehave”) was founded by Natalia Maczek in 2014 in Kraków – as a creative reaction to the void in the Polish fashion scene. What began as a DIY evening project quickly developed into a symbol of provocation, nostalgia, and progressive aesthetics. Today, MISBHV is available in over 90 stores worldwide, merging streetwear DNA with avant-garde clarity.
From the Club Scene to the Couture Stage
Its roots lie deep in Poland’s underground: club culture, techno-punk scene, DIY spirit. During a stay in London, Maczek began printing T-shirts for friends, inspired by subcultural energy. In January 2015, she presented her first collection at Paris Fashion Week – marking the start of an international career with early orders from BROWNS & Co.
In 2016, the label debuted at New York Fashion Week – MISBHV celebrated the iconic Bowie era with T-shirts, jackets and prints that cemented its position at the crossroads of streetwear and luxury.
Time Travel: SS19 “Polish Jazz” in Warsaw
The SS19 collection, presented in the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, was a loving homage to 1960s/70s Polish culture – inspired by Rosław Szaybo’s legendary poster designs and Roman Polanski’s Knife in the Water. The show combined folkloric choreography with an industrial soundtrack and visual intensity: a contemporary meditation on Poland’s cultural legacy.
Design DNA: Between Nostalgia and Avant-Garde
- A deeply rooted fusion of Polish history, club culture, and DIY aesthetics
- Classic craftsmanship merged with futuristic silhouettes
- Sportswear and streetwear elements meet couture expression
- Gender-fluid fashion: masculine and feminine blend seamlessly
Fashion, Music, Art – as a Manifesto
Music plays a central role at MISBHV: live performances, collaborations with DJs like DJ Hell, and the release of its own vinyl records – fashion and sound are intrinsically connected.
Staging is essential: the original 2015 collection came out of a tiny studio in Kraków – today, MISBHV pieces are shown next to Prada and Balenciaga in global boutiques.
Quality with Local Roots
Despite its global success, MISBHV remains firmly grounded in Poland: all products are made there, with fabrics sourced from Italy, Portugal, and France. Authenticity is part of its DNA – no fast fashion, but narrative fashion with attitude.
Brand Power Meets Subcultural Aesthetic
Internationally celebrated – worn by Rihanna, Kylie Jenner, A$AP Rocky – MISBHV also represents a new generation of Polish fashion: free from Western clichés, deeply embedded in its own cultural identity.
