Hidden within Marrakech’s palm groves, this intimate house-hotel merges Moroccan craftsmanship, contemporary art and soulful hospitality.
Just a short drive from the vibrant souks of Marrakech lies a place that feels less like a hotel and more like an artist’s private residence. Jnane Rumi, tucked into the lush Palmeraie district, is a boutique retreat where architecture, art and nature come together in an atmosphere of calm elegance.

A house with history
Originally designed as a private villa by renowned architect Charles Boccara, the property is among the oldest homes in Marrakech’s legendary palm oasis. Today, it has been transformed by Dutch owners Gert-Jan van den Bergh and Corinne into a refined house-hotel that blurs the line between private residence and hospitality.

Traditional Moroccan architecture – arches, handcrafted zellige tiles and tadelakt walls – is paired with European antiques and contemporary design pieces, creating a layered aesthetic that feels both timeless and personal.
A garden oasis in the Red City
The name itself reveals the essence of the place: “Jnane” means garden. Surrounded by century-old palms, olive trees and fragrant vegetation, the estate offers expansive gardens and secluded corners that invite reflection.

Despite its tranquil atmosphere, the property is located just minutes from Marrakech’s Medina – offering the perfect balance between cultural immersion and restorative calm.
Where art shapes the atmosphere
Art lies at the heart of Jnane Rumi. A curated collection of works by contemporary North African artists fills the interiors, transforming the property into a living gallery.

Antique furniture, handcrafted textiles and locally sourced objects sit alongside modern artworks, creating a layered visual language that celebrates Moroccan craftsmanship and global creative influences.
Intimate living
With only around a dozen rooms – spread across the main villa, garden pavilions and a secluded annex with its own pool – Jnane Rumi offers a deeply personal experience.

Each suite is individually designed, featuring bold colour palettes, antique beds, artisan textiles and generous bathrooms that echo the romantic spirit of traditional riads.
The philosophy of quiet luxury
What truly sets Jnane Rumi apart is its philosophy. Rather than offering overt spectacle, the property embodies a slower, more meaningful kind of luxury – one defined by authenticity, creativity and warmth.

Guests are welcomed not as customers, but as visitors in a home where art, conversation and contemplation naturally unfold.
Jnane Rumi is therefore not simply a place to stay – it is a soulful destination that captures the creative spirit of Marrakech.
