SHONA-stone sculpture “The Chief” by Edronce Rukodzi
Edronce Rukodzi’s work is characterised by angular lines; his human figures often have pointed heads that are enlarged in proportion to the body. Rukodzi’s works have been exhibited both in Zimbabwe and internationally.

Edronce Rukodzi was born in Guruve, in northern Zimbabwe, in 1952. He joined the Tengenenge sculpture community, an internationally renowned sculpture colony in Zimbabwe, in 1974 at the age of 20. Edronce’s uncle Henry Munyaradzi was already an established artist in Tengenenge. Edronce studied with him for four years.
